Born and raised in Jersey City; Dr. Julie DiGioia serves as Chief of Surgical Oncology and is the Medical Director of The Cristie Kerr Women’s Center at Jersey City Medical Center, the first comprehensive state of the art diagnostic imaging facility in Hudson County.
Dr. DiGioia has dedicated her practice to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer. She is known for her compassionate approach to tackling surgical procedures requiring breast surgery and for her extensive knowledge of high risk breast cancer prevention. Named by Castle Connolly as one of New Jersey’s top surgeons for the past twelve years as well as one of the New York Metropolitan area’s top breast surgeons; Dr. DiGioia is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons, The American Society of Breast Surgeons and The Metropolitan Breast Tumor Group.
Breast cancer survivor, Amber Marchese is internationally known for starring on the reality series’, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Restaurant Stakeout and the upcoming Marriage Bootcamp (premiering on 10/7/16 on WE tv). More than just a TV personality, Amber was a celebrity writer for People.com and has been a keynote speaker at numerous charity events, including Jacobi Hospital, Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Summit Medical Center.
After graduating with a BA, Amber acquired a Masters in Bio-Behavioral Studies/Exercise Physiology from Columbia University. Diagnosed with breast cancer at 31-years-old, Amber underwent a double mastectomy and a year and a half of chemotherapy; all while caring for a two-year-old and one-year-old. Amber’s remission lasted for five years, but relapsed last April. After two additional surgeries, radiation and another year and a half of chemotherapy, Amber is back in remission. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Amber is a philanthropist who donates time and money to countless charities raising awareness for young women with cancer while assisting them with the emotional and financial impact of the disease. Amber currently resides in Colts Neck, NJ with her supportive husband, James Marchese, and 4 children. The sky is the limit for her, and she plans on conquering the acting world and having a blast with it!
Dr. Garrett Wirth is a respected plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic breast, body and facial surgery, with a special focus on breast reconstruction. Born and raised in New York, Dr. Wirth received his Master’s and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Albany Medical College. Now practicing in Orange County, California, Dr. Wirth has not only co-authored the book, Personalized Breast Care, A Guide for Cosmetic Surgery, Breast Cancer and Reconstruction, but also helped develop one of the latest technologies being used in breast reconstruction, the new Fenestrated FlexHD pliable allograft – or “internal bra”, as it’s been dubbed – which allows patients to endure less time with tissue expanders, and more direct-to-implant reconstruction.
Dr. Wirth is Board-Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Institute at the University of California – Irvine Medical Center, and belongs to numerous medical societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Reconstructive Micro-surgeons, and California Society of Plastic Surgeons, among others.
Anita Kopacz has a passionate and an uplifting drive to see people thrive. In keeping with her family’s tradition and love for education, Anita graduated with honors from UC Berkeley’s Interdisciplinary Studies Department, where she studied film and drama with a focus on the African Diaspora. She then earned a Masters in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. For over 20 years, Anita has applied her knowledge and talents across many endeavors including writing, acting, and modeling.
The Culinary Conference centered will be home for our 10/16/16 event. Opened in 2008, The Culinary Conference Center is located on the campus of Hudson County Community College and managed by FLIK Conference Centers. Since their arrival, they have become a vibrant part of Journal Square, partnering with Jersey City organizations such as the historic Loews Theatre and the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce.
